Please note swimmers swimming later in sessions IE relays need to make sure thy are at main warm ups. Arriving later in the session will not be accepted as it’s imperative all teams warm up together, furthermore the staff are able to check the available swimmers before the relay declaration forms are put in. Please note should swimmers decide to arrive late they will Not be entered on the relay dec form as it will be assumed they are unavailale.

Lost property at CO Derby Level one meet

Just two peices of lost property were picked up following the level one meet at Sheffield.

Finding Nemo swim towel – found in the City of Derby team section on pool side

One clear plastic Sports Abroad water bottle – don’t all jump at once

With the Long Eaton Open meet and the zonal competition this weekend there are a few changes that are taking place.

Friday PM – Junior National – National Potential Loughborough

Sat AM – Moorways Dev 1 and National Squad – JN unable to attend Lboro

Remaining SAT AM sessions all on as normal

Sun – ALL SWIMMING IN FAMILY AND GALA POOLS CANCELLED

Cool Crocs on as Normal – Nemos 5.30pm – 7.00pm Teaching Pool

Important Car Parking Clamping

parking in front of the garage cars will be clamped. pleaseweb aware the garage owners need to get into the garage at anytime. the golfshop have also warned that they now had clampers at the ready so please be careful where and when you park your car.

Zonal Relays – Provisional Teams

Please note due to the rankings being down on the ASA website I have not been able to get times to select the teams please see below the provisional teams for the Zonal Relays. Please remember we can gain selection to the Nationals from this event so this is a priority event. SO means swim off, to assure we get the best results some swimmers will be involved in swim offs this Friday PM at Lboro. As soon at the rankings are working I will confirm teams just wanted to give you a gage of who may be swimming where

B TEAM SWIM OFF

It is getting difficult to keep up with all the success at the City of Derby Swimming Club at the moment with the ‘B’ Team’s fantastic achievement on Sunday, finishing 2nd in the Division 3 Arena League Swim Off resulting in promotion to the 2nd Division.

CONGRATULATIONS!

This shows the depth of talent we have within the club and the dedication of coaches, swimmers and parents involved.

A massive well done to Sarah and the swimmers for representing the Club so well and achieving this fantastic result.

The City of Derby Swimming Club held their Level 1 Open Meet this weekend at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

It was a fantastic success with a high class field competing including members of the GB Team.

We had a British Record and a loads of qualifying times for the Olympic Trials and for Nationals.

All this would not have been possible without all the volunteers and officials that gave up their time to support this meet.

The City of Derby Swimming Club would like to express their gratitude and thanks to all those people that made the meet so successful and we hope to see you all next year.

Reminder – JN & Dev1 Times Trials – Tues, 17 January 2012

Just a quick reminder to everyone that we are holding time trials again for Junior National and Development 1 squads this Tuesday, 17 January 2012 to give you the opportunity to get the last entry times for the Derbyshire Counties.

As confirmed in the earlier blog, any swimmer with qualifying times should be entering this competition. Latest date to get your entry form to your squad rep is Tues/Wed this week.

Arena League – City of Derby B Team Division 3 Swim Off

It was a nail-biting event, with only 2 points separating 2nd and 4th with 8 events to go and City of Derby B Team in 3rd position at this point!!!

What an exciting gala and what superb racing from the City of Derby B team swimmers. Everyone watched with baited breath as the relays concluded the gala. These events, that involved virtually the whole team, saw everyone rise to the challenge and put in great performances to finally come away in 2nd position – a clear demonstration of how every single point counts and a fantastic result for team to secure promotion to Division 2.

The final results were as follows:

Bilston:     227
City of Derby:     197
Stourbridge:     189
Cannock Phoenix: 186
Cheadle:     169

Kelsey Lovatt and Matthew Smithurst gave the team a great start with 1st places in the 200 IM, followed another 1st in the Ladies 4×50 Open Medley Relay with Rebecca Smithurst, Christine Hawkrigg, Kelsey Lovatt and Leanne Atkins.

Kelsey and Matthew gained maximum points again in the 100m butterfly, as did Charlie Softley in Open 100m backstroke, Masters swimmer Christine Hawkrigg in Open 100m breaststroke, Ryan Lovatt in Open 100m freestyle and the girls 13/u freestyle relay with Elsie Vivian, Jasmine Hill, Emily Ingram and Charlotte Bentley.

It was a fantastic team effort, and great support shown by all swimmers and the Team Derby spectators in the audience!!

Well done to all the swimmers who were involved in any of the Arena rounds – you’ve all played your part in getting the B Team promoted to Divison 2.

Thanks also to everyone involved supporting the team – the team managers, officials and of course all the Team Derby families!!
