URGENT – LBORO TONIGHT CANCELLED DUE TO FLOODING! DEV 1 + JUNIOR NATIONAL MOVEMENTS!!

Loughborough Pool session is cancelled tonight, due to flooding at the pool. Additionally due to Olympic events next week it is cancelled, there is a session on the 13th of July where we will have 2 lanes so this session will be for National Qualifiers only and those involved in Swim Off’s.

Due to this we will make the following changes Development 1 and Junior National will now move to the Gala Pool to join in with Sarah’s Olympic Torch Relay Fun Session and National + National P will be at Moorways.

Next week training arrangments will be confirmed at a later date.

Please let people know as soon as possible!!! Sorry for late notice but we have only just been told!


‘Good Luck Adam’ – Peaty Europe Bound For GB!!!

Adam Peaty Heads out to Belguim this Sunday to Compete for Great Britian in the European Junior Championships is Antwerp. Adam Competes in the 50/100/ and 200m breastroke over the 5 day competition. Additionally if Adam can submerge as the fastest Brit he could get a spot in the 4 x100m Relay. Adam joined the club in early 2009 and finished that year 15th in the Region for his age. Since joining Adam has gone from 15th in the Region to the UK’s fastests 50/100/200m breastroker for his age,  and additionally a double English age group record holder. Adam has been training 9 times each week + 3 land sessions in preparation for the EJNR champs and hopes the training will stand him in good stead to take on the rest of Europe. Adam will have some fierce GB competition to get past first through in the prelims, racing Craig Benson who has just qualified for London 2012. One of the youngest in his age group however time is very much on the side of the 17 year old and this first step of the international ladder should give him great foundations for him to excel further into the Senior Ranks!!!

Adam you have been positive through every challenge, you have been committed at every stage and its a Proud moment for me, your family and your club…. Go Get Em Derby Style!!!!

Adam races this Wed, Fri + Sat!! I will keep you posted on how he gets on!!

 


This Sunday Training Changes 1st of July – Same Format For Rest of Season

This Sunday AM is now as follows

Repton 7-9am as Normal BOTH SQUADS National + National P ( Masters 1 lane )

8 – 9.30am Nemo’s  family pool as normal

9.30 – 11.30 Junior National + Dev 1 Family Pool

All PM on as normal!!

These training times will continue until Summer Break for Sunday AM.


Lincoln Vulcans level one open meet

The Lincoln Vulcans open meet takes place at Ponds Forge on 20th October.  Due to cnstraints around holidays and Nationals we need entry forms need to be with squad reps by 9th July please.

Junior League Teams on Fire!!!!!

The club’s junior swimmers were out in force on Saturday for round 2 of the Junior League, with both teams  putting in outstanding performances!!  Well done to each and every swimmer who participated, and thanks to all the parents and older swimmers who helped out in any way.

Olympic Torch Relay in Derby – Saturday, 30 June 2012 at 6am

 The Olympic Torch Relay reaches Derby on Friday, 29 June and leaves again on the morning of Saturday, 30 June 2012. Any swimmers and parents who would like to come along on Saturday morning, we will be meeting outside Queens Leisure Centre at 5:45am and walking down together to the Market Place.

All younger swimmers should be accompanied by an adult. Activities start on Saturday morning at 6am in Derby Market Place with the 1623 Theatre Company: The Great Shakespearean Workout – an interactive fitness session. To join in, wear loose clothing and bring along a bottle of water – a great warm up for our 7:30am swim!!

The torch will leave the Market Place at 6:30am and make its way from the Market Place to Royal Derby Hospital along Burton Road. Bring a hot drink and a snack to eat before the swim session starts.

To carry on in the Olympic spirit, we will be running a fun relay session for all Nemos and Cool Crocs, with both squads in the gala pool from 7:30 – 9:00am. Remember to bring a spare towel and T-shirt for poolside.

Any changes in arrangements will be posted on the blog.

ASA Senior Nationals!!! Great Efforts City of Derby!

The City of Derby have been competing in the British Championships and second round of the Olympic Trials this week and have been storming!! Peaty tonight just missed a Silver Medal!! 2nd place was 29.03 3rd place was 29.05 and Peaty came in 4th in 29.07!!! a best time for him so its all looking good for him before he heads off to Belgium to compete for Great Britain in the European Junior Championships! This was Adams second senior final this week and he has been the youngest in both finals!! Ellie Baldwin and Becky Jones have been in action this week, both swimmers still in hard training swimming right on there best times!!!! Yeee Haa!!! Becky has been in the 50/100 and 200 back and Ellie the 100/200!! Its great to see our young and up and coming swimmers swimming in the same heats as GB stars like lizzie Simmonds!!!! One more day of the championships left!!!!!!


Nemos in Family Pool Tonight – 7pm – 8pm, Wed, 20 June 2012

Please note that Nemos will be training in the Family pool this evening, instead of the teaching pool.  Normal training time:  7pm – 8pm.

For those Nemos competing in the Junior League on Saturday, come along to training in the morning from 7:30 – 8:30am for race skills.
